Season of Advent
The season of Advent begins Sunday, November 29, and we will worship and celebrate with the help of a Chrismon tree this year. Chrismons are a type of Christmas tree decoration featuring symbols representing Christ and various biblical concepts. They are usually white with gold decorations of beads, glitter and ribbon. Our tree will contain twelve different symbols: the fish, alpha and omega, chi and rho, dove, angel, butterfly, star, candle, lamp, cross, crown and heart. Three will be highlighted on each of the four Sundays of Advent, and the choir anthem will focus on one of the three each week. Our plan is to have a real tree approximately 7 feet tall!
